DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

OUTGROWING is an animation focusing on the "essence of humanity". With the story of a "Bone Hunter" who collects "bones of humanity" but falls into the trickery of the "Snail People"—a higher-dimensional civilization—it explores the definition of "human beings" and the boundaries of evolution in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).

The work is deeply connected to the theme of "artificial intelligence": through the protagonist's pursuit of "human traits", it reflects humanity's anxiety about self-identity amid AI development—when technology blurs the line between humans and non-humans, are the "human qualities" we cling to still the core of our identity? Meanwhile, in terms of artistic expression, it uses the visual metaphor of "snails (invertebrates)" and "humans (vertebrates)" to transform abstract reflections on humanity into concrete images. This allows the audience to intuitively feel the tension between "holding onto one's true self" and "being swallowed by desire", echoing humanity's reflections on survival in the wave of technology.
